Guess what! This is the 25th post on this blog!
When I started this blog at the beginning of 2021, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this site. I just wanted to write down some memories from previous trips as a way to pull myself out of a COVID-funk and to get excited for the prospect of travel in the near future (hopefully.)
The community here has been very welcoming and supportive. I appreciate each of you who have taken the time to read some of my stories and even hit the follow button. I promise to continue sharing my stories and listening to your feedback to see what you enjoy reading.
While I have quite a few posts I want to share, I felt like the 25th would be a good opportunity to put a face to the site and let you know a little bit more about me.
I was born, raised, and still reside in Maryland, USA. I would go on nearby vacations to the beach or cities along the midatlantic with the occasional cross-country flight. My first trips abroad were to the Dominican Republic and Mexico while I was in college. They were fun, but I was staying in all-inclusive resorts, so I wasn’t able to really delve into the authentic experience.
A couple years later, I started going with family and friends on trips that I’ll call open-ended. There were a few “want to see/do” items on our itinerary but for the most part, we were free to wander and explore at whatever pace we were feeling.
In 2017, I spent time in 7 different countries and that is when the travel bug really bit me. I subscribed to innumerable YouTube channels about travel. I would binge endless Anthony Bourdain shows. I started reading blogs all about traveling. I wanted a life with more travel involved. A lot more.
I don’t think I’ll become a full-fledged digital nomad. I don’t even know if that’s something I would want to become. I love moving, being on the road, and spontaneity – routine bores me. But, I enjoy having a home base. Somewhere to collect my things and my feelings. An end to the means.
